CloseThe Pinus (pine or pine) is a coniferous tree that consists of many different species. The pinus can be large and high, but there are also species in a shrub or dwarf form. The leaves of a pine tree are needles, they hang in bundles of three to eight. The pinus has a wide distribution in the northern hemisphere: especially in North America and Asia we often see this beautiful plant.
The Pinus needs a sheltered location. In addition, this plant also needs a well-draining soil with stones and sand alternated. The mixing ratio should be 2/3 soil and 1/3 sand. Do you want to leave the pine in a pot? Then the plant needs at least 3 hours of sunlight per day for optimal growth.
The pine tree can be fertilized once a year. Fertilization is suspended in winter because the plant then takes a growth break. The pine can tolerate a lot of drought because the needles are actually rolled leaves that serve as evaporation protection. But water them regularly anyway, as that is when they grow best. Also make sure that it is not too humid. This can cause rotting roots.
Pines are usually not attacked by pests. Their greatest enemies are cold, snowbreaker or fire. The pine processive spinner damages the needles of the pine. Infestation by the pine winder causes damage to the bark and fresh shoots. The native bark beetle sometimes settles in pines. When infected, the branches become unstable.
