CloseTwo things are essential for a balanced diet and potting soil, namely the EC value and the pH value. Plants therefore place demands on the irrigation water. The quality of the irrigation water is important for stable growth. Hardness also plays a role. Water with a relatively large amount of Calcium and Magnesium ions is called hard water. Hard water is harmful to acid-loving crops.
Absorbing water
The EC values are the values for the electrical conductivity of water. If the salinity of water is high, the EC figure is also high. The salt concentration in the plant must always be higher than outside. Because water moves from a low to a high salt content and therefore towards the plant.
Stablevalues
We express the acidity of water in pH. This stands for the concentration of ions in the water. The lower the pH content, the more acidic the water. With a pH value of seven, soil is neutral, below it acidic and above that basic. For most potted plants, a pH value between 5.5 and 6.0 is desirable. More importantly, the value does not fluctuate but remains stable. Because if the pH value fluctuates, the amount of nutrients that the plant absorbs also fluctuates, which can be seen from the growth method.
pH value 5.5-6.0
The ideal acidity (pH value) of irrigation water for ornamental plants is between 5.5 and 6.0. The HY-PRO PH- product helps your plants to reach these ideal values and to keep them stable at this level.
